THE ANNEXATION

Live weekly music and talk show on WMMT 88.7 FM

"The Annexation" (2014-2016) was an eclectic music and talk show that aired every Thursday at midnight on Appalshop’s WMMT 88.7 FM—a community radio station located in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The show was hosted by Zhivko Illeieff and featured local musicians, organizers, and small business owners who took to the airwaves to express their opinions on various topics and play their favorite music. The show featured many local DJ's who became regular guests, such as DJ Whole Card, DJ Champagne Logic, DJ Weather Vein (who did a weather report and various sets), DJ Goatboy, DJ Rooster Ears, and many others.

WMMT’s mission is to be a 24-hour voice of mountain people’s music, culture, and social issues, to provide broadcast space for creative expression and community involvement in making radio, and to be an active participant in discussion of public policy.
