First-hand accounts of living in the People's Republic of Bulgaria (1946 to 1990)

The fifty-minute documentary was filmed in Bulgaria, during the summer of 2010. It follows Zhivko Illeieff, Charles Mike III, and Tsvetan Naydenov as they film varying opinions about life during the totalitarian regime in Bulgaria, as well as what remains of that period. Тhе Liberation War (1877-1878), the partisan movement, and Bulgaria’s participation in World War II are also featured in the movie, in order to create a background for the events which unfolded in Bulgaria during the middle of the 20th century. This documentary is a major part of our efforts to generate a digital archive of Bulgarians’ memories from the period between 1944 and 1989.

I conducted interviews, shot and edited footage, and composed music for the documentary. I was also responsible for the project's logistics, schedule, and publicity. I managed the production of all marketing materials: documentary brand and identity, logo, website, posters, CD and case cover design.
